Planning to fall pregnant? Elevit is a once-daily pre-conception & pregnancy multivitamin that has been specifically formulated to help support your baby's healthy development from conception.

It can take time to build the higher level of nutrients your body will need to support you and your growing baby. Therefore, Elevit should ideally be taken from at least one month prior to conception, and then throughout your entire pregnancy.

No other pregnancy multivitamin contains more folic acid and iron (1). Elevit also contains a high level of iodine and other important vitamins and minerals. Folic acid is clinically proven to reduce the risk of neural tube defects like spina bifida(2), iron helps in the formation of the red blood cells and helps prevent iron deficiency while iodine assists in the baby’s brain development.

It's New Zealand's No.1 Pregnancy multivitamin supplement (3).

- No other pregnancy multivitamin contains more folic acid and iron (1) (2)
- One small convenient tablet per day
- New Zealand's No. 1 pregnancy multivitamin supplement (3)
- Take at least one month prior to planned conception and throughout your entire pregnancy
- Folic acid is clinically proven to reduce the risk of neural tube defects, such as spina bifida (2)

Extended Information:
Elevit with Iodine Frequently Asked Questions:

What is Elevit? Elevit with Iodine is a vitamin and mineral supplement for pregnancy that has been specially formulated to meet the needs of women who are trying to conceive, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Why would Elevit be recommended above other supplements? Elevit with Iodine contains key vitamins and minerals that are required before, during and after pregnancy, and Elevit is clinically proven to reduce the risk of neural tube defects such as spina bifida by 92%

How is Elevit different to other pregnancy multivitamins? Many of the pregnancy supplements available in New Zealand are basic multivitamins that have been slightly adjusted for pregnancy.   In contrast Elevit with Iodine has been scientifically proven to reduce neural tube defects in a large, statistically significant clinical trial2. Elevit with Iodine has the highest combination of certain key vitamins and minerals, like iron, folic acid and iodine, which is why it's only available from pharmacies.
It is also only one tablet daily compared to many supplements which require 2 or more capsules/tablets daily.

Elevit contains 800mcg of folic acid why is this higher than others? 800mcg was the amount of folic acid used in the Czeizel study, which in combination with the other vitamins and minerals in the formulation showed a significant reduction in neural tube defects, including spina bifida. It is also the amount the Ministry of Health recommends pregnant woman take.

Are there any benefits in taking Elevit right through pregnancy? Elevit with Iodine, in conjunction with a healthy diet, helps meet the increased nutritional requirements that occur throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding.
There is an increased requirement for iron during pregnancy, and Elevit with Iodine can help prevent dietary iron deficiency. Likewise, there is an increased need for folic acid throughout pregnancy. Other vitamins and minerals that are required at higher levels throughout pregnancy include zinc, calcium, vitamin C, B6 and B12.

How do I take Elevit? Elevit with Iodine is a once-daily tablet that can be taken at anytime of the day. It is also easy to halve or crush the tablet to make it easier to swallow.
