Headlice

Head lice or Nits are a small insect that live on our scalps and feed on our blood up to 6 times per day.

The signs that you or your child may have Head lice or Nits include itchiness or scratching of the scalp. You will also see the white eggs stuck to the hair shaft close to the scalp.

There are a number of treatments that you can use and unfortunately there is resistance from some treatments for head lice or nits. Head lice or nits can sometimes be very difficult to treat and you may need to try a number of options before you get the result you want.

We recommend getting a lice comb to remove the lice eggs from hair. The Moov range works well and includes the Moov leave in spray and Moov conditioner that can help prevent re-infestation. The Quit Nits range sells very well as does Chinese Whispers - a natural product that is very effective.

Once you have discovered head lice or nits you may need to treat the whole family and advise your school of the problem so that other parents can look out for and treat their children. Keep your children’s fingernails short to reduce the chance of breaking the skin when itching. Make sure everyone at home as their own hair brush.
