Balance is a term that you frequently encounter in weight loss.
Moderation is another. However, they usually refer to food. In this
case, we'd like you to consider balance and moderation in relation to
your life. Do you allocate enough time to YOU? Take a look at the
'Wellness Triangle'.
Are you devoting enough too much time to work and/or relationships or
others and not enough time to looking after yourself? As the Author of
the book called Don't Sweat the Small Stuff said, "No one ever lamented
on their deathbed that wished they had spent more time at the office."
You're more likely to say, "If only I'd spent a bit more time looking
after myself."
What has all this to do with weight loss? Well, studies have
shown that if you're emotionally well adjusted, and have your life in
balance, the chances of maintaining a health weight are better. And if
you feel healthier and more confident after you have lost weight,
you'll probably find that the other two sides of the triangle improve
too.
Stress is often a contributor to inappropriate eating habits. It could
be because fast foods are all you have time for. Or if you're like many
people, your hectic lifestyle makes you take comfort in food and you
find yourself overeating. Good self care means taking care of yourself
physically. You've already taken steps to a better physical you. Try
and make time for the things that will help you maintain achieve and
maintain weight loss, such as exercise. But don't forget to take care
of yourself mentally and emotionally - relieve that stress.
