What is Collagen?
Essential structural support for hair, skin, nails, tendons, ligaments and bones.

Collagen is the major structural protein in connective tissue and the most abundant protein in the human body. It provides essential structural support for hair, skin, nails, tendons, ligaments, bones and blood vessels.
There are a number of different types of collagen; the most prevalent two in the body are Types 1 and 3 with Type 1 being the most abundant and being present in almost every type of tissue.

Bone contains almost exclusively Type 1 Collagen. The collagen in bone provides structural strength to the bone tissue and prevents bone fragility. Type 1 is also a major protein in skin connective tissue providing skin with its strength and resiliency.

Type 3 is found in high levels in cardiovascular tissue and newly developing skin.

Types 1 and 3 are often found together in the same tissue as they complement each other.

Benefits:
  • Support for hair, skin, nails, tendons, ligaments and bones
  • Support for ageing – collagen required for growth & repair and wound healing. The rejuvenating process becomes less efficient as we age. This manifests internally and externally. The obvious effects showing in the skin.
  • As the skin ages, levels of types 1 and 3, plus elastin, decrease in the dermis – resulting in fine lines, wrinkles and an aged look. The ageing rate depends on many factors, such as UV exposure, genetics
  • Doctor’s Best Collagen provides the building blocks for collagen renewal and maintaining the body’s healthy structure. By using this consistently it can lead to a more healthy, vibrant, youthful tissue structure
  • Helps maintain strong, healthy bones
  • Vitamin C is included as it is required for collagen synthesis and strengthens collagen matrix
  • Support for joints. By using hydrolysed collagen this also supports the structure and function of cartilage and can help stimulate the production of a major protein in cartilage (Type 2 Collagen)

Structure of collagen
Collagen is a long fibrous protein that makes up the matrix of connective tissue. It gives sturdiness and integrity to the fibre matrix. Collagen molecules are rich in amino acids, particularly glycine and proline. Doctor’s Best Collagen has been enzymatically hydrolyzed into component amino acids for optimal absorption and utilization by the body.

Good sized capsules. By 15 days noticed good changes in skin overall appearance. Nails are stronger. Good price for product that covers a good range. Recent shoulder injury seems to have been helped as well. Highly recommend.
