Radiance® Tart Cherry GoutEze provides a synergistic blend of herbs and nutrients to encourage healthy uric acid levels and the maintenance of healthy comfortable joints.
Uric acid is produced naturally in the body from the metabolism of purines. Purines are made in the body and found in high levels in some foods and drinks such as liver, anchovies, mackerel, dried beans, peas, beer and wine.
Normally uric acid stays dissolved in the blood and is excreted by the kidneys as a component of urine. Under-excretion or over-production of uric acid in the body can cause levels in the blood to be raised. When this occurs, crystals of uric acid may form and deposit in the joints causing extreme discomfort. The most common joints for uric acid to crystalise in are the joints of the big toe, ankle, knee, fingers, wrist and elbow. Risk factors for uric acid build-up are genetic predisposition, a diet high in purines and/or fructose, obesity, high alcohol intake and certain medications. Left untreated, attacks of joint discomfort will most likely get more frequent and severe, eventually leading to continual discomfort and stiffness.

Ginger – is second to none for encouraging healthy inflammatory processes while also supporting warmth and circulation to the periphery. This is of benefit as uric acid is more likely to crystallise where there is poor blood flow and low temperature.
Tart Cherry – tart cherries have been used for supporting joint comfort and healthy uric acid levels since the 1950s. Researchers have recently found that antioxidant compounds called anthocyanins within tart cherries support the balanced activity of an enzyme called xanthine oxidase which catalyses uric acid production. Tart cherries also support healthy inflammatory responses in the body. Radiance® Tart Cherry GoutEze uses Montmerancy tart cherry skin extract concentrate as it provides high levels of anthocyanins.
MSM – Supports joint structure and comfort whilst also supporting healthy inflammatory responses in the body.
Vitamin C – research shows that those people with a high intake of vitamin C have a lower risk of uric acid induced joint discomfort. It is thought that vitamin C helps to support the excretion of excess uric acid while also supporting healthy inflammatory responses and tissue repair.
Sodium bicarbonate – uric acid becomes significantly more soluble when added to alkaline salts. For this reason, alkalising the body and urine with sodium bicarbonate helps to ensure that uric acid does not crystallise, rather it is able to be easily excreted in the urine thereby preventing joint discomfort and supporting the detoxifying capabilitites of the kidneys.
Magnesium – magnesium citrate and magnesium taurate support balanced uric acid levels in the body and have an alkalising action.
Vitamin B6 – is an essential co-enzyme required for supporting anti-inflammatory processes in the body, joint comfort and may support healthy uric acid levels.
Zinc – supports the bodies production of super oxide dismutase (SOD) which helps support healing and ameliorates the tissue damage associated with uric acid crystals.
